A tree on your property can add beauty and charm, and truly bring nature into your space. However, in some cases a tree can cause more harm than good. In certain circumstances, you may need to contact a specialist who can help you with emergency tree removal to best protect your property from damage caused by the tree.

In some cases, this might be obvious, but there are also some subtle signs that may indicate that you should have a tree removed as soon as you can. We have collected some of the top signs you may see - read on to find out more.

Root damage

It is possible that you may see root decay - if it is visible, you should call an expert to assess it. The roots are the support for your tree, and if they are damaged or unstable, then any storm could blow the tree down, which has the potential to cause huge damage.

Fungus

Have you noticed mushrooms at the base of your tree? While this is not always a bad sign, it can indicate root disease, or that your tree is rotting from within. You should contact an expert arborist immediately to tell you whether or not this is a serious problem.

Branch damage

Should you see any dead branches, these should be removed quickly to avoid them becoming unstable during storms or strong winds, as this could pose a serious threat to people or your home. If you notice that there are dead branches on one side of your tree only, then the tree will be off-balance and should be removed as soon as possible.

Increased leaning

If you notice that your tree has begun to lean towards your house or over a pathway, then it is time to call in the professionals. This is especially important if this happens after a storm, as the tree has likely been damaged in bad weather - however, any leaning should be checked out to be on the safe side.

Power line proximity

You may not think that your tree being close to your power lines is a big issue, but it could easily become one. During a storm, trees coming into contact with power lines could cause serious damage to your property and power failure. While keeping trees well pruned can help you to avoid this, if the tree is too close overall or leaning towards the power lines, you may need an emergency removal.

Trunk damage

If the tree trunk is largely hollow, it is possible that the tree should be removed altogether - as trees can live on the outside without being healthy on the inside, but this does cause instability. Similarly, if you see cracks or missing bark on the trunk, then this could be a serious problem that could require immediate attention.
